This Book Making Decorative Notebook workshop at Tri Arts Project in Castle Rock is a rewarding Sunday afternoon experience for beginners ages sixteen and up who want to learn foundational bookbinding skills.

Instructor Lisa MacKenzie guides you step by step through the process of designing and constructing a sturdy five by seven inch hardcover notebook. You will learn how to select appropriate materials, use essential bookmaking tools, and hand sew assembled pages into a finished book. The class concludes with a functional elastic band closure, leaving you with a durable and personalized decorative notebook. All supplies are included.

What You Will Learn in This Book Making Workshop

This hands on workshop introduces the core techniques needed to confidently create hand bound books and adapt those skills for future projects.

Hardcover Book Construction

Learn how to build a strong and professional hardcover using book board and proper spine assembly techniques.

Essential Bookbinding Tools

Practice using key tools such as a bone folder, cutting tools, and a book press to achieve clean and precise results.

Hand Sewing Techniques

Master simple bookbinding stitches to securely and neatly sew pages into a cohesive book block.

Finished Decorative Notebook

Leave with a completed five by seven inch hardcover notebook featuring a sewn page block and elastic band closure.
