Weekend Workshop: Floral Mosaic Art with Ceramic and Porcelain Tile

Transform colorful tiles into lasting works of art in this Floral Mosaic for Beginners workshop at Tri Arts Project in Castle Rock. This two day weekend class is open to artists ages sixteen and up and offers a hands on introduction to the fundamentals of mosaic art.

Instructor Nataly Parson guides you through the process of designing and building a floral mosaic using ceramic and porcelain tiles. You will learn how to cut, arrange, and secure tiles before completing your piece with proper grouting and finishing techniques. The focus is on learning core skills while creating a finished artwork that can be displayed in your home or given as a meaningful gift. All supplies are included.

What You Will Learn in This Mosaic Workshop

This workshop introduces the essential tools, materials, and techniques needed to create a successful mosaic from start to finish.

Mosaic Materials and Tools

Learn how ceramic and porcelain tiles are used in mosaic work and how to safely handle tools such as tile nippers.

Design and Tile Placement

Explore basic design principles and pattern transfer while learning how to break and place tiles effectively.

Grouting and Finishing

Practice the final steps of grouting and cleaning to seal and complete your mosaic artwork.

Understanding Mosaic Art

Gain insight into the historical significance of mosaic art and how traditional techniques inform contemporary designs.

Important Schedule Information

Please note that this two day workshop meets at different times each day. Saturday runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sunday runs from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

What Participants Should Bring

Wear comfortable clothing that may get stained. All mosaic materials and tools are provided with registration.
