In this intro class at Tri Arts Project, you will get comfortable with the parts and purpose of a standard machine so threading, tension, and basic stitches finally make sense. Bring your own machine or rent one on site in limited supply. With clear demonstrations, helpful practice, and a simple starter project, you will leave feeling calm, capable, and excited to sew at home.
What You'll Learn
- Identify key parts of the machine including presser foot, feed dogs, needle, and bobbin area
- Thread the machine and wind a bobbin correctly with proper tension
- Select and sew essential stitches such as straight stitch and zigzag with correct stitch length
- Start and finish seams with a secure backstitch and safe needle changes
- Apply beginner skills on a simple project using accurate seam allowance and pressing
