Ready to create a painting you can actually feel? This Palette Knife Acrylic Painting class at Tri Arts Project in Castle Rock adds a bold, textural approach to acrylic painting. Designed for ages 16 and up, this engaging Sunday afternoon workshop is perfect for anyone wanting to build their expressive, hands on techniques.
Instructor Jacqueline Shuler guides you through the technique of palette knife painting. Learn how to apply impasto to your paintings using various color choices. Participants will have the opportunity to paint a semi-realistic landscape scene. Please review supplies list below under "What Students should Bring."
What You Will Learn in This Palette Knife Workshop
This workshop focuses on learning and demonstrating palette knife techniques.
Impasto Acrylic Technique
Learn how to apply acrylic paint to create depth.
Palette Knife Control
Practice holding and moving the palette knife to achieve a variety of expressive strokes.
What Participants Should Bring
Two 9" x 12" or 8" x 10" canvases
Acrylic Paint Colors: red, yellow, blue, green, black, white in either tubes or plastic bottles. (paint can be found at art or hobby stores, or online)
Palette knife set (set of 5 or more)
Brushes:
- one flat
- one round
1 large plastic palette or disposable palette paper.
8 oz or larger canning jar (for rinsing brushes)
Wear comfortable clothing that may get paint on it.
