Writing Immersive Fiction for the Modern Reader

Immersive Fiction: Mastering "Show, Don't Tell" and Emotional Narrative

Learn how to draw readers fully into your stories in Writing Immersive Fiction for the Modern Reader, a creative writing workshop at Tri Arts Project in Castle Rock. Open to writers ages sixteen and up, this all levels class is designed for anyone interested in crafting fiction that feels vivid, emotional, and deeply engaging.

Instructor Terri Lewis guides you beyond the familiar advice of show, do not tell, introducing the concept of inside and outside narrative. You will explore how a character’s internal emotions and thoughts can move seamlessly alongside external action and setting. Through discussion and guided writing, you will practice techniques that help readers feel fully present inside the story world. Come prepared to write.
