Start your guitar-playing journey today! Acoustic Guitar: Beginner at Tri Arts Project is a 6-week class designed for teens and adults (Ages 15+) with no prior guitar experience. Led by instructor Greg Johnson, this welcoming course covers all the essentials: tuning, basic chords, strumming patterns, and simple songs. By the final session, you'll have the confidence and skills to keep learning on your own or progress to the next level in your musical journey.
This beginner-level course runs 6 Tuesday evening sessions from September 1 through October 6. Students must bring their own acoustic guitar — no other supplies are required.
What You'll Learn in This Beginner Guitar Course
- Guitar Tuning: Practice the foundational skill of tuning your acoustic guitar by ear and with a tuner for reliable, in-tune playing.
- Chords & Strumming Patterns: Demonstrate essential strumming patterns and a variety of basic chords to play real songs from day one.
- Reading Tablature: Discuss how to read guitar tablature (tabs) — the most common notation system for guitar — so you can learn new songs independently.
