After you have the First Draft of Your Book

First Draft in Hand? Here's Your Roadmap to a Finished Book Ready to Share

You've written your first draft — now what? After You Have the First Draft of Your Book at Tri Arts Project is a 2-session writing course for adults (Ages 18+) with a completed manuscript. Taught by author Julie Cordova, this intermediate class covers the critical steps between your first draft and a polished final draft ready for Beta Readers — from self-editing strategies to selecting the right feedback partners and giving them clear instructions.

Designed for intermediate writers, this 2-session Saturday afternoon course runs September 12 and 19. Students bring their own note-taking materials and a printed copy of their first draft.

What You'll Accomplish in This Writing Course

  • Self-Editing Plan: Develop a clear, actionable plan to guide your first draft through a thoughtful self-editing process toward a polished final draft.
  • Beta Reader Criteria: Establish specific criteria for selecting your Beta Readers — the ideal early audience to provide meaningful feedback on your work.
  • Beta Reader Instructions: Draft clear, purposeful instructions for your Beta Readers so they provide the most useful and constructive feedback possible.
