Ready to capture a lifelike likeness? This Charcoal Portrait Drawing workshop at Tri Arts Project is designed for adults nineteen and up who already have basic drawing experience. It offers a focused introduction to portrait techniques and the expressive qualities of charcoal.
Instructor Leigh Anne Lewis begins with a live demonstration. Students then move step by step through the portrait process. You will learn how to build accurate facial structure, map values, and use charcoal on toned paper to create depth and realism. All supplies are included.
What You Will Learn in This Charcoal Workshop
This workshop teaches the essential skills needed to create a successful charcoal portrait.
Face Proportions
Learn the core measurements of the face and how to establish accurate structure before adding detail.
Value Mapping
Practice placing lights, midtones, and shadows to build depth and form.
Charcoal Techniques

What Participants Should Bring
Wear clothing that may get charcoal on it. An apron is optional. All supplies are provided.
