Pastel: Portrait Drawing
Pastel Portraits: Face Proportions and Color Layering
Explore portrait drawing with color, depth, and expression in this Pastel Portrait Drawing workshop at Tri Arts Project in Castle Rock. Designed for artists ages nineteen and up, this class is ideal for students with basic drawing experience who are ready to move beyond monochrome work.
Instructor Leigh Anne Lewis begins with clear demonstrations focused on facial proportions and structure. You will then work step by step on a portrait using soft pastels on toned paper. The class emphasizes layering color, blending transitions, and using the paper tone to establish light and shadow. By the end of the workshop, you will complete a finished portrait and gain techniques you can apply to future pastel work. All supplies are included.
