Stop Motion Camp: Foundations of Storytelling

Build Sets, Tell Stories, Roll Film: A Week of Stop Motion Camp Fun

Continue your stop motion filmmaking journey! Stop Motion Camp: Foundations of Storytelling is a week-long immersive camp for youth ages 8–17 at Tri Arts Project. Instructor Darien Russell guides campers deeper into scene planning, set building, and frame-by-frame capture — while introducing original short film creation and hands-on production methods. Students collaborate on creative storytelling exercises and experiment with a wide variety of materials throughout the week.

Designed for beginners, this Monday–Friday camp runs August 3–7. All iPads, course materials, and software licensing are provided; students bring their lunch each day.

What Campers Will Explore This Week

  • Digital Arts Tools for Stop Motion: Use iPads and digital tools to plan stop motion scenes, design sets, and organize each shot with creative precision.
  • Original Short Film Creation: Develop a short stop motion project through hands-on production and collaborative storytelling — and walk away with a finished film!
