Brian Hubbell

Brian’s drawing, cartooning and painting began in early childhood and led to commissioned artwork in his college years. He began showing pen and ink and charcoal sketches, acrylic and oil portraits and western paintings in galleries and businesses in central Colorado. He also became a political cartoonist, having fun lampooning then noted politicians: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and others. His cartoons were published in regional periodicals and newspapers.

Actively engaged in Colorado’s outdoor life, Brian is an accomplished mountain climber – having scaled 44 of Colorado’s fourteen-thousand-foot peaks, and a number of the Washington and Oregon’s higher peaks (Rainier, Hood, Adams).
It’s no surprise that his love for the outdoors transfers into his primary artistic subjects of western art and landscapes, and more recently, colorful oil on canvas seascapes and island themes – as Brian and his family share a deep love for the Hawaiian Islands.

Recently, Brian was awarded Best in Show at the 2024 Lone Tree Arts Expo, and he was also honored to have four paintings in the 2024 Colorado Governor’s Art Show. This Spring, his striking moose painting: “Morning Stroll” was published in Southwest Art Magazine, March 11, 2024 edition.
