Robert Spooner

Robert Spooner grew up in Roswell, NM. In his professional life, Spooner earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1978 and initially pursued a career in graphic design. In 1989, he relocated to Helsinki, Finland, where he spent four years and obtained an MBA from the Helsinki School of Economics. It wasn’t until 1998 that Spooner developed an interest in oil painting, using it as a creative outlet from the structured world of advertising where he worked as a designer and illustrator. His passion for painting deepened when he took classes at the Denver Art Students League.

Today, Spooner focuses on large-format pieces, choosing canvas dimensions based on the story he wishes to convey. He believes that larger panels offer more space to explore complex shapes and visual elements. Spooner emphasizes that his art is about continuous development and exploration, rather than adhering to a single approach. His ongoing discoveries fuel his artistic passion.

Spooner clarifies that his current artistic influences are non-existent, stating that his visual path has been shaped by his accumulated knowledge and is now uniquely his own.
