Photography Classes and Studio Lighting Workshops in Castle Rock
Photography classes at Tri Arts Project help students move beyond automatic settings and into confident, creative image making. These small group sessions support new and advanced photographers who want to master their cameras, refine composition, and work intentionally with light in Castle Rock.
Introduction to Photography and Manual Mode
Beginner photography classes focus on the essentials of shooting in manual mode. **We make learning your camera simple and encouraging.** Students will:
- Learn how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO work together
- Practice using manual settings to control exposure (F-stops)
- Explore focus, depth of field, and basic composition techniques
- Complete simple assignments to reinforce each concept immediately
Advanced Digital Photography Skills
For **experienced students who know the basics**, advanced classes dive deeper into creative and technical control. Participants will learn to:
- Refine their understanding of complex camera settings and workflow
- Experiment with motion, low light, and difficult scenes
- Develop a more intentional approach to framing and timing
- Receive constructive feedback on images shot between sessions
Studio Lighting and Portrait Work
Studio lighting workshops introduce the tools and setups used to shape light indoors. Students will work with:
- Strobes, continuous lights, and reflectors
- Experimenting with soft boxes and directional light
- Practicing lighting portraits and still lifes with intent
- Seeing how small changes in light transform a photograph
Photography classes pair well with Painting and Drawing for strengthening visual composition, and with Business of Art for artists who want to present and share their work professionally.
