Draw the Human Figure in Charcoal: A Workshop From Proportions to Finished Art

Master the human figure in charcoal! Charcoal: Figure Drawing (from Photo) at Tri Arts Project is a focused workshop for adults (Ages 19+) with basic drawing experience. Led by instructor Leigh Anne Lewis, you'll learn to draw the clothed figure from a photograph — beginning with body proportions and building to rich value with black and white charcoal pencils on toned paper. Following a demonstration, you'll complete your own finished figure drawing step by step. All supplies included.

Suitable for basic through advanced levels — some prior drawing experience is required. This single Saturday afternoon session runs 3 hours. All supplies are fully provided.

What You'll Create in This Figure Drawing Workshop

  • Figure Proportions: Learn the foundational proportions of the human figure and how to use charcoal value to convey volume, light, and shadow.
  • Charcoal Figure Drawing: Apply charcoal drawing and shading techniques to create a finished, realistic figure drawing from a photographic reference.
