Beeswax, Dye, and Tradition: Learn the Art of Ukrainian Pysanky Eggs
Explore the art and tradition of Ukrainian egg decorating! Learn Pysanky (Ukrainian Egg Decorating) at Tri Arts Project introduces adults (Ages 16+) to the beautiful batik technique of pysanky using beeswax and dyes. Led by instructor Leslie Barstad, this 2-session beginner class takes you through the complete process — from sketching and waxing to dyeing and finishing — with all supplies provided for a rich, hands-on experience.
Designed for beginners, this 2-session Tuesday course runs September 15 and 22. All supplies are included — bring an optional apron or clothes that may get stained.
What You'll Learn in This Pysanky Class
- Complete Wax-Resist Process: Apply the full pysanky technique: pencil design, beeswax application with a kistka stylus, successive dye baths, and wax removal to reveal your finished egg.
- Egg Finishing Techniques: Apply the proper finishing techniques to complete and preserve your pysanky egg as a lasting, beautiful keepsake.
