Stop Motion Camp: Foundations of Scenes
Plan, Build, and Film: A Week of Stop Motion Filmmaking for Kids
Lights, camera, stop motion! Stop Motion Camp: Foundations of Scenes is an immersive week-long camp for youth ages 8–17 at Tri Arts Project in Castle Rock. Instructor Darien Russell teaches campers the foundations of stop motion filmmaking — planning scenes, building simple sets, staging shots, and capturing frame-by-frame movement. Throughout the week, students collaborate on creative storytelling exercises and develop their own short stop motion projects.
Designed for beginners, this Monday–Friday camp runs July 27–31. All iPads, course materials, and software licensing are provided; students need to bring their lunch each day.
What Campers Will Learn This Week
- Scene Planning & Set Building: Use digital arts tools to plan stop motion scenes and build simple, creative sets that bring your story world to life.
- Short Film Development: Develop a short stop motion project through collaborative creative storytelling exercises — from initial concept to finished film.
