The Art of Drawing Horses
Celebrate the West and Capture the Grace of Horses through Drawing
Capture the beauty and grace of horses in pencil! The Art of Drawing Horses at Tri Arts Project is a beginner-friendly 4-week course for adults (Ages 16+) designed for students with little to no drawing experience. Led by instructor Robert Quimby, you'll break down complex horse anatomy into basic shapes, understand proportions, and explore gesture, movement, and expression — with step-by-step demonstrations and individual feedback each session.
Open to all levels, this 4-session Thursday evening course runs September 3 through 24. Students bring their own drawing supplies including a drawing pad, pencils (4H–8B), kneaded eraser, and blending stumps — a full beginner kit is available at hobby stores for under $20.
What You'll Master in This Horse Drawing Course
- Animal Anatomy Fundamentals: Understand the essential shapes, proportions, and skeletal structure of horses to draw them believably from any angle.
- Drawing Confidence & Tools: Become comfortable using pencils, erasers, and blending tools — the foundational instruments of skilled animal drawing.
