More About the Author:

SETH

Poet, fiction writer and performer SETH openly admits to having a love affair with language. One of Colorado’s best known performance poets, SETH is author of A Black Odyssey (2012), a diverse, vibrant collection of poems modeled on Homer’s ancient epic, using it as an allegorical scaffolding for his own experiences as a Black man in contemporary America.

As Gregory SETH Harris he is author of The Perfect Stranger (2020), an absurdist satire weaving a complex, intricate tale infused with puns, malapropism, misspellings and clever, often poignant turns of phrasing as he pokes fun at human folly and the folly of human institutions.

His most recent work, The Reluctant Mesiah, is a creative hybrid of fiction, poetry and philosophical dialogues in which a ragtag assemblage of poets, performers and provocateurs examine the world’s great religions, dissert Western dualism, the Good vs. Evil myth, the art of poetry, quantum physics and more.

SETH’s poetry can also be found on CD’s, video or experienced live. In 2024, he collaborated with the improvisational musical ensemble Art Compost & the Word Mechanic to produce an audiobook of A Black Odyssey, performing the entire collection to original music, available on most audiobook platforms. About the Book:

The Reluctant Messiah

Part fiction, part poetry, part philosophical dialogue, this work of creative nonfiction examines how the stories humans tell themselves shape human reality.

A ragtag assemblage of poets, performers and provocateurs through performance and talks around the campfire, dissect the ineffable – that which is universally recognized but difficult to express in concrete language.

Ruffling the feathers of the Powers that Be, the traveling ensemble of vagabond performers examine the world’s great religions, dissect Western dualism, the Good vs. Evil myth, the art of poetry, quantum physics and more.

The author, best known as the performance poet SETH, shares insights into how poetic language works and how that ineffable something (some in Christianity call God), is accessed not just through religion but in art, beauty, nature, love and service to healing the suffering of others.
